In May, Animals UK visited the academy to work with a number of Year 9 and Year 11 students, as well as those in the Animal Care group. Having hands-on access to a variety of quirky creatures, the students treated the animals with care and respect, despite the smells, the slithers and slime!
Charlotte the tarantula, Snape the Burmese python, Snail and Gecko were keen to explore!
Flower the skunk loved lots of cuddles but the students’ firm favourites were the meerkats, Tigger and Scout, with their lively, mischievous characters.
As well as having hands-on experience of these beautiful creatures, the students learned how to handle them safely without causing them harm.
